wow! so strange that you posted this. i was just pointed to a critique of flarf w/r/t spamthology: Flarf: What Happens when Poets Spend Too Much Time Fucking Around on the Internet , Dan Hoy for Jacket Magazine.
so strange indeed. and this at that!
quite an involved critique. i buy some of it, but it seems a bit stiff of a posture to me.
and i've got to admit, much as 'mainstream poetry' has a ring, as does talk of squids and such, it was the audience assist, "tell it like it is," that proved the clincher for me.
