heavy-handed agitprop, but beautiful, moving all the while. the sympathies come easy: working people, poor people, students, revolutionaries. the bad guys are bad guys: united fruit, asshole tourists, corrupt officials, imperialists.
well worth watching, even if you got shit to write, stuff to grade, people to see.

Yes, it is beautiful, and I dig the band that plays in the hotel bar. Also, that amazing crane shot that goes across streets, and down the side of a building and into a swimming pool!

that bar/dance scene is incredible. it seems to transcend the propaganda even.
totally surreal with the russian voiceover and the bad american accents. wish they just left the spanish alone.
also, blasphemous as it sounds, i'd love to see it in color.
the tracking shot @ the beginning is one of cinema's finest crane maneouvres & one of the first to explore such complexity. _t
